Alumni Awards
The N.C. A&T Office of Alumni Relations is pleased to announce that nominations for the Alumni Awards are now open. The nominations are for the Howard C. Barnhill Distinguished Service Award, Julia S. Brooks Achievement Award, and the Velma Speight Young Alumnus/Alumna Award.
The nomination period for the 2023 awards will be from Aug. 24-Oct. 1 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Award nominees will be notified by October 15, 2023.
The awards will be presented at the 2023 Fall Convocation on Thursday, November 2 at 10 a.m. at Harrison Auditorium.
Awards Criteria
Howard C. Barnhill Distinguished Service Award
Must be an alumnus/na of North Carolina A&T State University
Is active with the programs and services of the University and/or the Office of Alumni Relations by serving on a committee, participating on a local level (i.e. alumni chapter, Aggie Certified Alumni Recruiter) and/or volunteering for events (i.e. Homecoming, Alumni Reunion Weekend)
Provide two (2) reference letters that display the character, service, and commitment of the nominee
Previous recipients are not eligible for the same award
Rendered outstanding service to the University, the Office of Alumni Relations and/or the local alumni chapter
Has donated to the University’s Annual Giving campaign and/or been a financial chapter member for at least two consecutive years.
Julia S. Brooks Achievement Award
Must be an alumnus/na of North Carolina A&T State University
Is active with the programs and services of the University and/or the Office of Alumni Relations by serving on a committee, participating on a local level (i.e. alumni chapter, Aggie Certified Alumni Recruiter) and/or volunteering for events (i.e. Homecoming, Alumni Reunion Weekend)
Provide two (2) reference letters that display the character, service and commitment of the nominee
Previous recipients are not eligible for the same award
Must have demonstrated outstanding achievement in his/her profession, community or public service
Has held multiple positions at various levels within his/her profession, community or public service
Has donated to the University’s Annual Giving campaign and/or been a financial chapter member for at least two consecutive years.
Dr. Velma Speight Young Alumnus/a
Must be an alumnus/na of North Carolina A&T State University
Is active with the programs and services of the University and/or the Office of Alumni Relations by serving on a committee, participating on a local level (i.e. alumni chapter, Aggie Certified Alumni Recruiter) and/or volunteering for events (i.e. Homecoming, Alumni Reunion Weekend)
Provide two (2) reference letters that display the character, service and commitment of the nominee Previous recipients are not eligible for the same award
Must be 40 years of age or younger
Has donated to the University’s Annual Giving campaign and/or been a financial chapter member for at least two consecutive years.
