    Bluford Archives: The Road to Truist Stadium (Formerly Aggie Stadium)

    Amid COVID-19, a sorely missed tradition of this year’s homecoming at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will be packing Truist Stadium. For nearly 40 years, Aggies young and old have returned again and again for tailgates, the huge parades and cheering on the Aggies and the Blue & Gold Marching Machine. For many alumni, it is hard to imagine our university without its massive arena known as Aggie Stadium from 1981 to 2018, then BB&T Stadium until this year when BB&T and Sun Trust merged to become Truist.     North Carolina A&T Names Inaugural Class for Advisory Council on Alumni Relations

    North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University announced today the inaugural members of the Advisory Council on Alumni Relations, a non-fiduciary, non-governing group that works with the Office of Alumni Relations by providing feedback that enhances programming for alumni engagement. The council consists of up to 15 members appointed by the chancellor. Each member will serve for two years with term appointments starting Aug. 1 of each cycle. Also, a board of trustees’ member will be appointed bi-annually to serve as council chair.     N.C. A&T Young Alumni Council Announces 2020-22 Cohort of New Members

    North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University welcomes its 2020-22 cohort of new members to the Young Alumni Council (YAC). Members of YAC serves as change agents who understand the mission, vision, and goals of the university by assisting with bridging the gap between the University and young alumni through awareness, connection and involvement. The mission of YAC is to assist in the areas of professional development, networking, community service and philanthropy.     The Southern Regional Council and the University of Georgia Libraries has selected author, historian and 1997 North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University alumnus Dr. Jelani Favors as the 2020 recipient of the Lillian Smith Book Award for his distinguished work on “Shelter in a Time of Storm: How Black Colleges Fostered Generations of Leadership and Activism.” “I am beyond humbled and honored to receive this award.     Aggie M.E.N. are recruiting A&T Alumni to Mentor Male First-Year College Students

    The Aggie M.E.N. (Male Empowerment Network) program is designed to pair minority male freshmen with mentors to be a resource on which to lean, someone that can help with the transition from high school to college, or someone to get a good word of wisdom when necessary.  Aggie M.E.N. believe that the more connected the freshmen are with the campus, the community, and the village, the more likely that freshmen will be a sophomore in good academic standing.  Aggie M.E.N. has connected 1,000 freshmen to mentors on campus over the last two years.  And, over those last two years, Aggie M.E.N. has been able to boast high persistence and retention…

    N.C. A&T Young Alumna Reflects on Summer of Service Abroad

    Good fortune played a part in leading Jazmaine Mayo ’19 to experience a summer abroad – going to London alone and working there for three straight months –serving people who are down on their luck. However, it was Mayo’s education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and commitment to social work that ultimately made it possible. Mayo found out about the opportunity when she happened to be sitting in sociology and social work professor Pamela Moye’s office last spring.     Bluford Archives: Celebrating Dudley Day

    On Friday, November 1, 2019, inside the historic James B. Dudley High School Auditorium in Greensboro, North Carolina, over 200 Dudley High School Panthers, Dudley High Alumni, and A&T Aggies were gathered for a historic day. For the first time in several decades, the local community celebrated “Dudley Day”, a former annual recognition of the life of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s second president Dr. James B. Dudley. Dr. James Benson Dudley (1859-1925) served as president of North Carolina A&T from 1896 until his death in 1925. Under his leadership, the college increased nearly fivefold in size of enrollment and his reputation as a great educator was known…
