Walls, a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, came to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with aspirations of becoming a top student-athlete, excelling in academics and on the football field. Aggie couple Gerald Harper ‘89 and Dayna Harper ‘12 defeated those odds with the birth of quadruplets Grant, Gavin, Sydney, and Bailey on March 11, 2023. Gerald and Dayna’s Aggie love story began with love at first sight. The couple met in 2012 in downtown Greensboro and have been inseparable since their first date. All of the ensembles are essential to making the Blue and Gold Marching Machine (BGMM) outstanding. A standout section of the band is the drum line, more famously known as Cold Steel. The Greensboro community will see some familiar faces on Saturday, Nov. 4, for the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Homecoming Parade, the Honorable Justice Henry E. Frye Sr. and Shirley T. Frye will take the lead in the parade as grand marshals. The parade will start at Lindsay and Morrow streets at 8 a.m. ET where it will come to an end on Laurel Street. The Fryes graduated from North Carolina A&T in 1953 and went on to become local, state, and national trailblazers, each in their own right. The Blue and Gold Marching Machine (BGMM) has been a driving factor in enrollment at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University for decades. As an iconic staple of Aggieland, the city of Greensboro and the nation, the band attracts millions at the drop of the beat. For 20 years, Kenneth Ruff, Ed.D. ‘90 and ‘93, has been the band director who has been instrumental in the elevation of BGMM.
