North Carolina A&T Alumni in the News

N.C. A&T Alumna Monique Manning is Changing the Face of Content Creation

A native of Waldorf, Maryland, Monique “Nik” Manning ‘08 has been an entertainer since she was a child from singing and dancing to being “the hostess with the mostest.”

Since 2016, Manning has built her digital lifestyle brand, Lizeeangel solely off her unique personality. It has catapulted her to a billboard in New York’s Times Square for the SAMA Tea launch by Jay Shetty in 2021.

“Lizeeangel is a way for me to express myself by bringing people into my world as I cook, travel, and experience life,” said Manning. “I grew up as a military kid and I always enjoyed the experience of meeting new people, connecting with them, and sharing my story. This is natural for me.”

As a first-generation college student, Manning received a B.S. in finance in 2008 and started working in human resources after graduation. Eventually, she pursued her MBA from the University of Pittsburgh with a focus in marketing.

“I soon realized I didn’t want to work in finance and my heart was more interested in marketing and branding,” said Manning. “While in grad school, I was able to study abroad in Europe and I experienced marketing on a global level.”

After Manning received her MBA, she worked in various corporate positions in technology and medical devices that allowed her to balance out her side hustle.

Today, Manning is one of two current season hosts of Flavor Makers, a show produced by McCormick’s that airs on YouTube. Her episodes launched in November 2021, and in January 2022 the show received 1.2 million views in six days for two consecutive episodes.

To date, Manning has worked with brands such as Walmart, Atkins, Hungry Root, Cut the Carb and she has been featured in Self and Women’s Health magazines.

Recently, Manning signed with Moore Creative Talent agency to secure roles in the future for online, TV, and print campaigns.

“I am my brand, and I am proud to say that because I truly love what I do,” she said. “As a woman of color, it is important to me to take myself seriously and my business so that when I am negotiating, I am receiving a fair and equal compensation for my work.”
