N.C. A&T Alumni Reunion Weekend Kicks Off with the Largest Reunion Class to Date

The N.C. A&T Office of Alumni Reunion would like to recap the unforgettable moments we shared during the Alumni Reunion Weekend for the Golden Class of 1973 and Silver Class of 1998. This was the largest reunion weekend with nearly 400 participants that traveled as far as from Los Angeles, California, Phoenix, Arizona, Chicago, Illinois to North Carolina that convened during May 11-14, 2023.

It was an absolute pleasure to witness the nostalgia, and joy that filled the air as Aggies from these two remarkable classes came together once again to reminisce, connect, and celebrate.

The weekend kicked off with a campus tour and Welcome Celebration that set the tone for the weekend. The host hotel, Sheraton Greensboro at Four Seasons was buzzing with excitement as classmates reconnected, sharing stories and memories that spanned throughout the years. The infectious laughter and warm embraces were a testament to the enduring bond that unites Aggies across generations.

On Saturday, May 13, our Aggies had to wake up super early to prepare to be honored at the Spring Commencement Ceremony I at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. The morning was filled with expectation, excitement, and that good Ol’ Aggie Spirit.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Chancellor Harold L. Martin, Sr., ’74 and ’76 recognized both classes with thunderous applause from the audience. The atmosphere at commencement was electrifying with joy from the graduates, the keynote speaker, Morris Chestnut, and family and friends cheering in the stands.

After commencement, the Golden Class of 1973 and Silver Class of 1998 were transported to the Dudley Building to take the official Alumni Reunion Photo on the Dudley stairs.

In the evening, the Induction Banquet brought together both classes, family, friends, and distinguished guests for a night of elegance, fine dining, and entertainment. The Golden Class of 1973 and Silver Class of 1998 were honored and inducted into the Society of Golden Aggies and Society of Silver Aggies by Dr. Velma Speight and Dr. Shirley Frye, coordinators for the Class of 1953.

As the evening came to a close, Aggies dance the night away in celebration and stayed up for hours.
