Aggie Legacy Story: The Creative Space of Jordan Page

For generations Aggies have attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University for the rich culture of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), the diversity and inclusion, and the family dynamic. Jordan Page ‘08 and his family are a true example of the Aggie Legacy of generations who have matriculated through North Carolina A&T to pursue higher education. His entire immediate family with the exception of his father, graduated from the university; his mother, Renita Carter Page ‘94, brothers, Jeffrey Page ‘01 and Philip Page ‘07, and sister, Stephani Page ‘05 and 08.

“North Carolina A&T was a no brainer to attend because of my family’s love for the school that influenced my decision,” said Page. “It was one of the best decisions I made to go to A&T because I met so many people on campus that helped shaped me as a person and in my career.”

While attending N.C. A&T, Page, a native of High Point, N.C., majored in economics and was initiated into the Beta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated in 2005. However, being a business major he knew deep down inside that his passion was focused on being creative.

“I always considered myself to be quietly creative because my mind is always working, and I not a flashy person,” said Page. “Over the years, my creativity has been fueled and motivated by watching my siblings’ passion for music and fashion.”

After graduating from A&T in 2008, Page was quickly faced with the economic downturn of the recession and found it difficult to secure a job in his major. During this challenging time, he remained resilient and stayed true to his calling.

“In 2010, I interned for Fader Magazine, a music publication in New York City and worked my way up by working in several positions,” he said.

In 2014, Page jumped into freelancing doing project management, public relations, event marketing and social media for Complex Magazine and boutique creative agencies. In addition, in 2006 he started a social media Instagram page, @VeryAdvanced, that has garnered 77,600 followers to highlight the latest trends in fashion.

Page used his connections as a segue to start doing consulting work for fashion gigs that led him to taking another jump into the field of styling.

“In 2018, a good industry friend of mine was working for Versace and asked did I want to collaborate on a project to style the rapper, 2 Chainz,” he said. “Everything in that moment was success and opportunity meeting to make it happen.”

In March 2020, Page launched his brand, the Colour Plus Companie, a fashion line and consulting design agency based in New York. Unbeknownst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the new company launched with the help of investors who believed in the brand and Page.

“The 2020 lockdown was a blessing in disguise, not only did I launch my company, but the pandemic gave me an opportunity of solitude and quietness to navigate starting a new business,” he said.

In June 2020, Page secured two collaborations projects; one with storied American workwear brand, Caterpillar and the other with running shoe titan, Saucony. These partnerships, both released in 2023, allowed him to have creative direction and infuse his DNA into an existing brand.

“My success sometimes feels like it has happened overnight, but I have definitely paid my dues and remain humble at every opportunity I am given,” he said.

In June 2023, Saucony was featured in Paris Fashion Week and Page spent a week working with designers and stylists on the brand.

“Some of my challenges I have faced in the fashion industry is dealing with the public facing of a brand and speaking to the press as an introvert,” he said. “Also, I want to remain true to who I am, being a Black man from North Carolina, the South, who is creatively gifted in fashion.”

Page credits North Carolina A&T for instilling in him the professional and organizational skills he needed to run a successful business and to work with other brands.
